Featured Ingredient

Red Henna InfusionMentioned in the Bible and used by the ancient Egyptians as a decorative cosmetic, henna is enjoying renewed popularity as an alternative to synthetic hair dyes. There have been tomb findings of henna markings on mummies and some evidence of Bronze Age ritual use exists.
How its made

Product Story

Made from the best quality Persian henna. Persian henna is known for giving the very best red tones, but is hard to get hold of. We don’t want to use anything less so we think it's worth the trouble.

Henna has a strong smell, so we have carefully chosen essential oils that leave your hair smelling nicely scented instead of like dried leaves!

Murphtang 3 months ago | 21 people find this useful I tried this product after having dyed my hair chemically since God was young (okay okay, 2002, but it's basically the same thing). I have recently switched to lush facial cleanser (coal face), soap (sea vegetable), and moisturiser (full of grace), and my skin feels *so* much better all over, so I thought I'd give this hair stuff ago. I started with very dark brown hair--my natural hair colour--with undertones of red. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture, but it was very dark (nearly black). I was a bit worried about how complicated the process would be--I had read horror stories on the internet about everything and your neighbors dog getting covered in henna, with it staining everything. That, combined with the fact that I am not very tidy, meant my bathroom got COVERED in plastic. I put down a big plastic bag on the floor, a large one over the sink, and then had a plastic bag to hand to chuck rubbish in. So, what I did was instead of mixing with water, mixed it with red wine, some paprika, and some curry powder, to get a deeper red colour. Mixed that all up, and boiled a kettle of water to take upstairs with me into the bathroom to add to the mixture if it cooled down. Anyway, I put a lot of vasaline around my hairline and on my ears (oh I did not want ginger ears :/) and bunged the stuff on my head. This, as it turned out, was a bit of an error, as it was quite thick. Watered it down some and it went on fine. I wrapped my head in clingfilm and left it for six hours. I LOVE THE RESULT :) I have beautiful dark red hair. The shine under light is a beautiful gingery-red, and from afar it just looks like a beautiful deep brown-red. And it looks so natural. And my hair is in wonderful condition. I only used two blocks, because I have such short hair, but I will DEFINITELY be using caca rouge in the future, even though it is super time consuming. Luckily I work from home so I can sit with my hair stewing while doing my work once a month!
